Maritime security is a growing concern for operators of vessels of all types. In particular cyber crime is an increasingly potent threat to the maritime industries. This award will be presented to a company which, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most significant improvement to enhancing standards of security in the shipping business, protecting the safety of crew members, passengers, and cargoes on board, as well as vessels themselves. The award will also recognise the best initiatives introduced in the past year to counter, and protect against internet based and other digital threats. The judges will be looking for innovative security concepts that have made a genuine difference in this field, and the use of new technology to achieve these goals. They will also be looking for practical examples of how cyber security initiatives can enhance the security of personnel, vessels, and facilities in the region and how companies are being made aware of the risk through the efforts of entrants.
